I was at the gym about half an hour ago, and I saw on the television that there was some story about the wife of Robert Kennedy Jr., but I didn’t see what it was and the audio was turned off. Knowing nothing about her as an individual other than the fact that she was the wife of a Kennedy, my guesses were (1) that she was arrested for drunk driving, and a less likely guess (2) that she had filed for divorce, and an even less likely guess (3) that she had been arrested for possession of controlled substances. I Googled news about “Robert Kennedy” just now, and guess number one was correct.

Garrison Keillor should shut up

Filed under: Current events — Administrator @ 4:02 pm

Garrison Keillor has unpleasant things to say about Unitarians, Jews, and the people of Cambridge, Massachusetts, in his recent column. Maybe he should stay in his bigoted little hicksville where things are more to his liking.

Saving the planet?

“Ditch fake Christmas trees to save planet” says an article at telegraph.co.uk. My goodness! If a few fake trees more or less are going to make or break the planet, we might as well forget about the planet and do as we please.

British hostility in Iraq

Filed under: Current events — Tags: — Administrator @ 6:19 pm

“The deep hostility of Britain’s senior military commanders in Iraq towards their American allies has been revealed in classified Government documents leaked to the Daily Telegraph.”

It is a mystery to me why the British wanted to play along with Bush’s fascist adventure in Iraq in the first place.

Eatery in the comfort station

Filed under: Current events, Food — Administrator @ 11:49 am

Two different companies would like to open an “eatery” in a former men’s room on the Boston Common, reports the Boston Herald. The small building has been closed for about thirty years. I remember what it was like, a dreadful sort of men’s room frequented by homeless men. I can’t imagine that any amount of soap and water or any renovation can cleanse the place 100%. But then the target audience is probably younger people who have no memories of the building in the past. The Common is beginning to seem like part of the campuses of Emerson College and Suffolk University since they have opened dormitories nearby.
