Social networking sites

My thoughts on some social networking sites:I keep in touch with my friends through e-mail, and so I don’t fully appreciate social networking sites. To me they have been an amusing way to kill some time.

I found myspace.com interesting at one time, but as time has gone by, I have become fairly bored with it. There is too much attention to professional musicians at myspace. Who really cares about the new albums and new gigs of lots of different musicians? I’m afraid I don’t.

Facebook.com might be interesting to students, but it seems an unwieldy site of little interest.

Yuwie.com is the site that interests me the most at the moment. I believe that it will experience great growth and will challenge the popularity of myspace. The new idea at yuwie is that the site will share its revenues with its users. A difference at yuwie is that people are eager to have lots of friends, because of the belief that more page views will increase one’s revenue.

Lazzeo.com is an interesting site, in that it permits banners and links to one’s affiliate programs. The downside is that many people may be promoting get-rich-quick schemes and one can wonder what sort of ambience one has gotten oneself into.

Friendster seemed interesting to me in its early days when there were lots of ficitional profiles, but since their elimination it seems boring. It seems to be experiencing some growth among young people in third-world countries.

In conclusion, I’ll still stick with myspace, but I’ll be paying more attention to Yuwie.
