Two new biographies of Ethel Merman are coming out this month.  According to Publishers Weekly, Brass Diva: The Life and Legends of Ethel Merman by Caryl Flinn (release date November 30, 2007), is the better written and better researched of the two, but  Ethel Merman:  A Life by Brian Kellow (release date November 1, 2007) of Opera News magazine is the more lively.
